Calgary Ladies Curling Club

Rules of Play  2009-2010

1. Canadian Curling Association (CCA) rules shall apply unless stated otherwise in this document.

2. Free Guard Zone: All games shall be played under the four (4) rock free guard zone rule.

3. Length of Games:All regular games are 8 ends. In the event of a tie at the game completion, no extra ends will be played. 

4. Points:
(a) Two points shall be recorded for a win.
(b) One point shall be recorded for each team when the game is tied at game completion.
(c) When two teams are unable to play their scheduled game (a default) neither team will take a point.

5.  Rules of Sparing:
(a) As long as one regular member of the team is present you may play the game using Three (3) substitues. Substitutes may be rovers and members from another Calgary Ladies Curling Club team or a Spare. 
(i) The position of Skip or third must be played by a rover or regular member of another CCLC team.
(ii)Spares must pay the required fee and may play lead or second only.
(b) Rovers and Members from another CLCC team who are substituting may play any position at the descretion of the Skip.

6. Postponing Games:
There are no postponed games in the scheduled draws with the following exception:
(a) If a team is incomplete for the Club play because all four curlers are playing in playdowns, the team will be allowed to have four substitues.The league game may then be played as sceduled or may be played before the end of the go round.
(b) Spare Rules, 5. (a) and (b) will apply.

7.  Positions of Team Members:
In Club games, the Skip may change the positions of the players (between games) as she sees fit, providing the players on the team agree.

8. Players changing teams:
A paid member,dropping off a team, can be classified as a rover until they become a member of another team.

9. Tied Standings in the last Go-round:
All ties of two or more teams, in all sections of the last go-round shall have a play-off to determine the teams who will play for the Club and "B" Championships.

10. Championship Games:
All Championship games will be eight ends, including the final game. In the event teams are tied after eight complete ends, an extra end(s) will be played until the tie is broken and a winner delcared.
